My boyfriend and I are moving to NY in July. He is going to CUNY Brooklyn and I am hoping to work in the financial district (which is where I have worked since I graduated from college 3 yrs ago). We are in our early 20s. We visited last yr and only went around Manhattan, but heard Brooklyn (Park Slope or Williamsburg) was a safe, nice place to live. We do not want to pay over $1600 for rent. Any suggestions on where to look or if we need a broker? Where is the best place to live? We are looking to go with around $5-6K…does that seem like enough to get started in case I cannot find a job for the first 2 months or so? Any help would be greattttlyy appreciated!

Moving to Brooklyn in August (either bay ridge, park slope, prospect heights, sunset park, or kensington) and am wondering how difficult it will be to drive the UHAUL through Brooklyn at midnight. I figure there should be less traffic at this time. Also, am wondering if I would be better off getting a 14′ UHAUL instead- as it would be easier to make corners. After all- Semi trucks go though there don’t they?

There seems to be some service interruptions in Bay Ridge, but I can’t seem to find any info on exactly where it’s being re-routed or for how long. Anyone have any info? Thanks! :)
