Military Health Care Benefits (TriCare)
Twiggy asked:
My boyfriend (father of my daughter) is in the Navy and I received a paper in the mail from the Officer in Charge with his and my daughter’s information on it. It is for her ID card so that she can receive benefits through the Navy or him or whatever and even though it tells me to go to the local military base (Fort Hamilton in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY being the closest). I just don’t know which office i would need to take it to and what happens from there. Would she be able to use the health care benefits immediately? I work from 9am-5pm and want to know how can I arrange this because most office hours are mon-Fri 8:30-5pm or earlier. If anyone knows about this or has any experince with this just let me know. Thanks.

Just like all the other working mothers out there, you have to take time off of work to get your daughter to the doctor’s office.
Call them, and ask if you can go to any base. The answer is probably yes. And once you have the card, the benefits are immediate.
