never been to Coney Island, but go to Venice Beach often. Its has NO amusements if that is what you are asking. It has lots of shopping, eating, body building, skating and musicans. But no rides.
They are not really similar at all. Santa Monica Pier would be a little more similar with the ferris wheel and the rollercoaster…
Venice is quite a bit different. The street performers border on the weird and strange, as do quite a few of the people there. I can’t say that the architecture is anything to look at. (However, Santa Monica Pier has some historic structures).
I would say it’s different enough to be worth a visit, if that’s what you are thinking.
