Nicer Inexpensive Sections to Live in Brooklyn?
C asked:
ok, so I’m moving to NYC with a couple of friends really soon and we’ve pretty much decided on Brooklyn. We’ve been looking at Prospect Heights mostly, but have also heard that Carroll Grandens and Point Greene are nicer and cheaper sections as well. Are there any other decent places? I was wondering about East Williamsburg and Clinton Hill as well…
Thanks!

It’s called “Greenpoint” not “Point Greene”. Or maybe you mean “Fort Greene”?
All of those neighborhoods are okay to great. Carroll Gardens is a really nice neighborhood, but I wouldn’t all it “inexpensive”!
If you are looking for inexpensive, I’d suggest Sunset Park, but stay between 4th Avenue and 9th Avenue.
Of those on your list, I like Prospect Heights. It’s well located and has really nice housing stock. But it’s not as cheap as it once was. Also in that area are Kensington or Windsor Terrace, both a bit cheaper than, say, Park Slope (really nice but very expensive these days.)
Clinton Hill is nice, but not well served by subways.
