Do You Think NYC Train Station Booth Workers are Kind of Mean?
This is my story.
I attended the Brooklyn Latin School Open House. And I somewhat dropped my MetroCard and didn’t realize it. Then, when I got to the Montrose station, I realized it was missing. I kindly told the man at the booth my MetroCard was missing. He replied, “So?”. I told him, “I’m a student.” I told my mom he wouldn’t let me through. After arguing with my mom, he STILL refused to let me go through. He was afraid if something happened to me, he would have to take responsibility. I’ve taken the train for years! I know not to talk to strangers etc. He would’ve kept me all night in BUSHWICK, probably the worst neighborhood in all of Brooklyn. If it weren’t for a woman who felt pity for me, I wouldn’t have got home. Now that you’ve heard my story, do you think workers in train stations are rude?

I know your pain. And the thing is students are supposed to ride FREE! No matter what. That’s the same thing that happened to my nephew. He was 8 and he’s supposed to ride the A train to Nostrand Avenue everyday to get home from school. For the first few weeks, his mother asked me to accompany him, since my daughter and him go to the same school. For some reason, he probably lost his MetroCard while playing outside. And then, when he told me he couldn’t find it, I told him to ask the man at the booth. The man gave him such a rude remark. I can’t even remember it right now, but I was sooo mad. I blew off at him, right there. Luckily, I had a few extra dollars in my pocket. I bought him a single ride. I heard the man say, His mother should be paying for his rides!” I cant believe how rude transit workers got these days. And Imagine that if you talk back to them, you end up serving 7 years in prison. Thenerve of some people.
